How To Decorate For A Romantic Dinner At Home
You can cook the fanciest of meals you want, but if you don’t know how to decorate for a romantic dinner at home, you’re missing out on the real experience. Plus it’s not like anyone is going to want to come over for a dinner date if you’re just serving them leftovers in tupperware.
Set The Table
To decorate for a romantic dinner at home, you’re going to have to actually set the table for once. Don’t worry, it doesn’t actually take that much effort. All you need is a couple of placemats (if you have them), napkins, plates, glasses, and silverware. Arrange what you have to look like a restaurant table, and voila! Your table is set.
Making your table look a little nicer than it does on the day-to-day will show your date the effort you put into setting up it ahead of time. And if you can decorate according to the season, your date will be really impressed 😉 .
Set The Mood
When it comes to decorating for a romantic dinner at home, remember that the ambiance will set the mood for the night ahead. This will definitely help your date know if you want to kiss them. So you absolutely want to dim the lights, light some candles, and play some dinner music. After all, you want your home to feel like a restaurant. Although, if your eating area doesn’t have any overhead lighting, I guess you’ll be used to this 😉 .
When you’re choosing your candles, make sure they don’t have a super strong scent so they don’t overshadow the meal you’ve cooked. If you have any non-scented candles laying around your house, now is the time to break them out.
What Do You Wear To An At Home Dinner Date
Picking out an outfit for any date is always a process, but have you wondered what do you wear to an at home dinner date? It’s not like you’re going out to some fancy restaurant, but you’re also not just hanging out and watching movies. You have to find a balance between looking cute while still being comfortable.
Dinner Date Outfits For Ladies
Luckily when you’re dining at home, dinner date outfits for ladies can be much more laid back than if you were going out. There’s no need to put on a fancy dress unless you really want to. Jeans are always a safe bet, just make sure they’re comfortable enough to hang out in if you think you’ll be carrying on after dinner 😉 .
The good thing about a dinner date at home is that it can be as casual or fancy as you want to make it. A shirt that’s both cute and casual is a good choice. Just be careful if you wear white! If you know your date isn’t going to be dressing up, could feel free to stay comfortable in some athleisure wear.
Dinner Date Outfits For Guys
Choosing dinner date outfits for guys is always easier than it is for girls. I mean helloooo they only have like three options of outfits they have to choose from.
If you’re going to go with a nicer outfit, I wouldn’t wear anything nicer than jeans and a nice t-shirt. You know the kind with the pocket on the front? They work well for the “I wanted to be comfortable but I also wanted to look a little nicer than normal” look. Although if she bought you a nice golf shirt for Christmas or your birthday, you can wear that too.
There’s nothing wrong with wearing your 5”-7” gym shorts either. Why not take the opportunity to show off your legs? 😉
What To Avoid Doing On A Date At Home
It’s easy to forget you’re actually on a date when you’re not going out, but these tips will give you an idea of what to avoid doing on a date at home. Whether it’s what you’re cooking or what you’re doing, these are a few things to keep in mind.
Avoid Messy Meals
When you’re planning your menu for the evening, you definitely want to avoid messy meals as much as possible. This also includes foods that stain clothes easily. Serving spaghetti and meatballs is always a little dicey because of the marinara sauce. Plus, pasta with long noodles isn’t always the most attractive food to eat on a date.
Also stay away from foods that will give you gas later in the evening. You might not be worrying about that right now, but if you’re eating chili on your date night in, things might get a little awkward. Just saying.
Stay Off Your Phone
If you’re trying to make your date night at home feel like a restaurant, you better stay off your phone as much as possible! I know it can be tempting to check it throughout the night, but would you be checking your phone if you were at a fancy restaurant? Hopefully not.
Plus you can certainly get to know someone a lot better when you’re not checking your phone constantly. It can come off rude to your date too, so if you want to have a shot at another date, put the phone away 😉 . Unless you’re making dinner together over facetime… then you’ll need your phone.
